  • Each one of us is supported and influenced by other people around us; we ourselves are like drifting boats on the vast sea. These so-called anchors refer to the people who appear in our lives. During calm times, these irreplaceable anchors often bring us a lot of trouble, as we are deeply influenced by them and cannot freely roam. However, when storms and gales approach from outside, these anchors, no matter big or small, tightly protect us from harm or getting lost.

"I," as the subject of my own spiritual world, am constantly influenced by others who appear in my life, which is the objective influence. I also use the presence of the objective to map the existence of the subject itself. In other words, we cannot confirm our own existence without first determining the existence of others. In this regard, without a connection to the objective, the subject will cease to exist, and the relationships between people are deeper and more important than we imagine.

This artwork represents my feelings and concerns for all the people who have appeared in my life. The people we meet in our lifetime are limited, whether they are close friends and family or strangers we briefly encounter. People's joys and sorrows may not be the same, but the emotion of someone appearing in our lives and altering our path is a constant one. Recording the moments of concern is the essence and purpose of this artwork.

The artwork as a whole is primarily structured using wood bending, with the intention of mimicking the waves of the sea's surface through the orderly shaping of wooden pieces. Viewers observe this artwork from a bottom-up perspective, and its significance lies in encouraging reflection on the meaning of anchors from different angles. When people think of a boat, they typically think of the boat's body directly; few thinks about what the anchor looks like underwater. This unusual perspective can stimulate people's thoughts. Moreover, the overhead light shining through the installation onto the ground resembles sunlight passing through the surface of the sea, creating a stronger resonance with viewers.
